Research & Planning - Location & Atmosphere

Dark mid shot, typical for alleyways etc, however with the lighting surrounding myself would allow the viewer to be able to get a feel for my expression in a video, also the use of costume and contrasting orange with the black surroundings is perfect use of mise en scene, to create a conspicuous and slightly dangerous setting.
Playing around with the shots can help build tension, but also help the viewer know whats going on and really feel involved with the location, and build a knowledge of whats going on.
Bright lights in a dark setting.

Brighter shots to ensure, its not all dark and gloomy, a good contrast is needed to grab the audiences attention.
The surrounding area is really bright, however the background really dark, this can spark attention and cause tension as you dont know whats going to happen, weather anyone will appear...
Again different use of shots, more intersting.
Fast paced shots, good use of car lights moving, if we can repeat this effect again this will be great for later on the trailer when the pace increases, building up to a grecendo.
Establishing shot.

Research & Planning - Font - Mood Board

In this post I have researched into films with similar target audiences as our own and the types of font they have used in their trailers/ teaser trailers, in particular for their film title. Below i believe to be some effective some not so effective for different reasons fonts used fot the trailers. In descending order from left to right, here as follows are the names of the films i have used..
  • Shank
  • Kidulthood

  • Bullet Boy

  • 4.3.2.1

  • Adulthood

  • This Is England

Shank

For me Shank has the most effective use of both background and font... The simplicity of it, is ideal for a fast moving trailer, especially for teaser trailers as the pace of shots changing is even quicker. The ending of 'Shank's' trailer is nicely tied up by a rustic brown coloured, clowdy looking background with the film title 'SHANK' slowing coming out from the misty background, getting bolder and bolder, with their punchy eye catching catch phrases 'If Your Not One Of Us; (next shot) 'Your A Victim'
