'2012' is a sci-fi adventure based genre, revolving around the end of the world which is caused by torrential flooding of the world in the year 2012. However true they try and make this out to be it isn't rateable to anything any population has experienced today.

Their USP is this environmental disaster that the tell you to research, in aim to increase hype and receive attention about this on a global scare, as opposed to previous films e.g the day after tomorrow which only showed effects in America. There is a sense of enigma being so close to the present day. I believe the target audience to be late late teens and the young male - middle aged adults.

Music helps build tensions perfectly a with fairly quiet and reserved buzzing bee like noise accompanied with a ticking clock sound to enforce a mysterious build tension. All shot types and camera angles revolve around the aim to build tension, a close up of quick pacing feet, enforcing panic. Various Close up of faces to emphasise emotions, extreme long shots when showing mountain and wave. The pace of editing was fairly slow to so you had time to become engrossed in whats happening, and create suspense, this isn't that usual for a teaser trailer as they are generally so quick.

Minimal special effects used until end of when the is gigantic wave good. Credits and inter-titles - End of the world , hints everyone will die but doesn't mention it directly, shows the website for answered questions.
